20 years of fighting impunity: a fight that never
takes a holiday !

Dear friends,

Summer has arrived, but TRIAL International continues to fight relentlessly. On the 6th of June 2022, our organization celebrated 20 years of existence. This anniversary year will be marked by all kind of events to highlight our actions. TRIAL International's all reason of being is the fight against impunity for the most serious crimes. For 20 years, TRIAL International has been working on a daily basis to ensure that every victim is heard and recognized and that impunity is reduced worldwide!

Three years after TRIAL International filed a criminal complaint, the Swiss Federal Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation against a Swiss trader on suspicion of trafficking rosewood in Gambia and filed a request for mutual assistance to pursue its investigations. This is a major step forward in the fight against the impunity of economic actors in Switzerland who are damaging the environment by participating in the illegal exploitation of natural resources by fuelling conflicts. The investigation "Trafic de bois, les criminels de l'environnement" by Isabelle Ducret, journalist for Temps présent on RTS, explains the need to condemn those guilty of environmental crimes. To mark the broadcasting of the documentary on RTS and as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, a screening was held on 16 June at Pathé Balexert in Geneva for current and former collaborators, committee members and members.

TRIAL International's General Assembly, held in Geneva at the beginning of June, allowed TRIAL International to take a look back at the year 2021, but also led the organization, thanks to the victories and important advances it has achieved, to renew its unwavering commitment to the fight against impunity for the coming year. There are many challenges ahead, but our organization knows that it can count on your continued support to pursue its mission!

Thank you again for your support!
